Department of Mechanical Engineering & Graduate Institute of Precision Machinery and Manufacturing Technology
Hsiuping University of Science and Technology is located at the place near the Dali Industrial Park, which is a development heart of traditional machinery and precision machinery and has an intimate relationship with the university. The main purpose of establishing graduate school to cultivate the advanced personnel in machine industry; and further, to help the transformation and upgrading of conventional industries of each industrial park in central Taiwan.
The Institute has a graduate program that awards a Master of Science degree. Our research team and teaching members are highly qualified and have many years of practical experience. Related experiences of research program and industry-academic cooperation enable us to support excellent talented persons.
The department´s goal aims to enable students to have professional knowledge and skills in computer-aided design, manufacture and analysis, precision machinery, mechatronics, and to act as skilled professionals in mechanical engineering fields in response to the needs of national development and upgrading industry. The purpose of this program is to integrate theory and practice, so students can learn about the most advanced techniques available and knowledge by using existing industrial equipment and techniques in order to achieve the goal of technical and vocational education and to fulfill firm's needs.
Major development fields of the Institute are：
- to match up the characteristics of Precision Machine Industry predominantly based on tool machine and manufacturing industry in central Taiwan, to apply ourselves to precision machinery and manufacturing techniques and to combine both precision machinery and the measurement and control center that we originally have, and to promote each exchanges with related manufacturer of central Taiwan in industry-academic cooperation, educational training, research and development to foster the advanced professionals with precision machinery and manufacturing skills, mainly covering the scope of micro-nano system, material technology, mechatronics and control, optoelectronics technology, rapid prototyping and reverse engineering, computer-aided manufacturing technology and accurate measurement, etc.
- to support and promote the numerous molding, manufacturing, and pneumatic hydraulic industries on each research and development technology of related machine industries, so as to adapt to the trend of economic development and competitive pressure and to avoid missing the opportunities created by Central Taiwan Science Park.
Department of Energy and Materials Technology
Undergraduate programs in the Department of Energy and Materials Technology emphasize to train the students as technologists, especially helping students to obtain licenses and to achieve certifications in various approaches to the application of green technology. The curriculum is designed to meet the demands of industrial growth in Taiwan and throughout the world. Under the idea of green technological education, the courses include the cross-disciplines between applied chemical, electrical power and thermos-electric power generating, electronics, microchip controller, biotechnology and material science. In the future, the department will focus on the optimum strategies for green power generation.
Department of Industrial Engineering and Management/Graduate Institute of Lean Production Management
The Department offers educational programs in industrial engineering and management. The goal is to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to become middle and high-level professional managers. The Departmental offers courses in automation, computerization, human management, Lean production, integration of Manufacturing and Commerce. These include an emphasis on creative thinking, system integration, practical project research, and decision making abilities. Students are taught to integrate people, material, equipment, energy and information within an automated operating environment, and promote efficiency and productivity.
Our development direction is divided into engineering and management areas. The goals include:
- meeting the demands of social change and job market, lower cost, reduce waste, and develop innovative and practical research school.
- integrating cross-school related equipment and resources, and creating cross area innovations, and perfect value research and talent development.
Department of Electrical Engineering & Graduate Institute
The Department of Electrical Engineering is committed to the career intelligence and professional knowledge and technology. Students are equipped with the resources and guidance to become competent engineers who are capable of incorporating design, R&D, maintenance, manufacturing, and management into their professional settings. The development of the department includes micro-computer interface control systems, mechatronics system design, power quality control and power electronics and electric power applications, integrated circuit design, chip systems and applications, photoelectric semiconductor technology, and other electronic materials.
The goal of the Graduate Institute of Electrical Engineering is to educate students to become professionals of engineering research and development. Therefore, the curricula are to be R&D of high technology electrical and electronic industries.
The department strives for more research opportunities with the goal of building on knowledge from the National Science Council and Ministry of Education. The department also offers cooperative opportunities with industries/factories to students.
Department of Electronic Engineering
Due to the rapid development of the electronic information industry, there is a strong demand in the job market. In accordance with the national industrial policy, the development direction of the Department of Electronic Engineering includes optoelectronics and electronic information application as the two principal fields. Optoelectronics fields focus on solar cell, optical technology, and electronic materials engineering. Electronic information application focuses on network communication technology, interface control application, and electronic information hardware/software integration. In addition to the expansion of hardware/software facilities, government grants and industry-university collaborative research and development project funding have been also increased rapidly in recent years.
Based on the need of industry professionals with the development of electronic engineering, a series of practice courses linking basic technology and industrial applications have been included to equip students with technological skills and theoretical acknowledge, and further international perspective and innovative abilities. After graduation, the students will be qualified engineers in photoelectric semiconductor and electronic information industries. Master students will understand the fields of electronic, electrical, information, photoelectric, communication, and material engineering.
Department of Information Networking Technology
The curriculum and research of this department focus on three main fields: communication and network technologies, system management and application development, and internet marketing. The curriculum emphasizes the integration of theories and practices, promotes and blends the opportunity of academic-industrial partnership into the course design, and enhances job competency. Additionally, we educate students about CCNA, JAVA, Android, wireless network, network security, database management system, and Linux certification courses, and blend those certification materials into corresponding course plans. Thus, students can earn their course credits and prepare for international certification exams. Therefore, our learning path turns our students into versatile professionals in communications, markets and networks.
