Department of Applied English



The department aims to equip students with practical level skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and educate them to be competent in one of two professional tracks: Track 1:"Teaching English to Young Learners" and Track 2:"Business & Tourism". In addition to compulsory English courses, our elective courses include basic professional courses such as Art Design Software Application, Journalistic English, Project Management, International Etiquette, advanced professional courses such as The Selective Reading of Children Literature, Language and Culture, Second Language Acquisition, Computer-Aided English Teaching in Track 1, and Presentations, International Trade Practice, Courses in Tourism and Tourism Services Training, Tour Guide of Taiwanese Culture in Track 2. Our compulsory English Certification Practice is designed to help students pass the GEPT intermediate level or earn a TOEIC score of 550 as part of their graduation requirement. Additionally, the department has established academic partnerships with sister universities abroad to promote cultural and academic exchanges. These cooperative programs will help students to pursue short-term study or long-term study opportunities abroad. Our department is proud to announce that, in addition to our time honored Chinese Teaching Pilot Overseas Internship plan, we have signed an internship contract in 2015 with The Taiwan Hotel & Motel Association of Southern California in the USA to select competent students to conduct practical training for front desk and housekeeping duties in the association members´ hotels on the East and West Coasts of the United States of America.

Department of Applied Japanese



The department's goal is to equip students with intermediate to advanced level of proficiency in Japanese. In addition to basic language skill training such as listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translating, the department also offers relevant courses in trade, business, secretarial skills, and tourism. These are designed to broaden student's business learning. The department particularly focuses on assisting students to pass Japanese language proficiency tests. To help students put into practice what they have learned; the department has cooperative programs with industry. Also, academic cooperative programs with Japanese universities are currently being established. These programs will include a student exchange program. Through these exchanges, students will have a better understanding of Japanese culture and society and improve their Japanese language skills. This is necessary for further studies and job placement.

Department of Digital Media Design




The goal of the DMD is to create digital media design specialists, who are well trained in media design, digital content, computer information applications, and other related areas. The DMD also focuses on student's fostering and their appreciation of fine arts, improving their technical skills, and enhancing their senses of cultural literates. There are two major fields in the Department: digital illustration design, multimedia animation. By integrating industrial experience with departmental courses, students will receive practical training in business settings. This will allow them to be competitive in the work environment.

Department of Tourism and Recreation Management




The goal of the department is to teach students to have professional skills in management, tourism and recreation. The curriculum focuses on the tourism management and resort & hotel management. In addition, casino management is added to the courses. Tourism Factory Program such as Innovative Beverages Concocting, DIY Practice-based Baking Courses,and Practice-based Course for cultural and Creative Industries.
This is the forerunner in universities of central Taiwan. Future development of the department includes coordinating with government policies of six rising industries and the growing tendency of international tourism in central Taiwan.
We continually strengthen the alliances and the practical training with the tourism and recreation industries in order to cultivate outstanding talent with the specialized knowledge skill and a global perspective.
